The first league title since 1990 is still far away for Liverpool. That is what coach Jürgen Klopp argued after the generous home victory at Newcastle United (4-0). With that, the leader finished the first part of the league with a six point lead on runner-up Tottenham Hotspur.

The sweaty titleholder Manchester City (three defeats in the last four matches) is third, seven points from the ‘Reds’. ,, This does not mean anything yet, we are only halfway ”, said Klopp, who tries to rein in the title fever in the Liverpool. ,, We will play against Arsenal and Manchester City in the upcoming games. We will see how we stand after that. ”

Manchester City closed the first half of the league in the Premier League in third place, seven points less than Liverpool and one point less than Tottenham Hotspur. ,, We have to accept that there are currently two teams better. But I have not forgotten who we are and how good we can be. We should not look at Liverpool or Tottenham now. We should only look at ourselves for the time being. It is a matter of improving, as an individual and as a team. We just have to win the next game, with a successful series as goal. ”

City plays against Southampton on Sunday. On January 3, the squatter waits against league-leader Liverpool.
